Workshop on Encouraging Student Mobility

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) conducted a Workshop on Encouraging Student Mobility on September 29, 2016 as a part of PKKUI program to motivate students to do international mobility. The speakers in the workshop were Prof. Dr. Je Dae-sik (Youngsan University, Korea), R. Purwanto Subroto, Ph.D (Kemenristek DIKTI), and Rully Rahadian, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D (Universitas Diponegoro). Prof. Dr. Je Dae-sik took his doctoral degree in Indonesia and he speaks Indonesian very fluently. He invited the students to study in Youngsan University and mentioned that Youngsan University provides a good environment for Muslim students such as the provision of Muslim kitchen. As stated by R. Purwanto Subroto, Ph.D, Kemenristek DIKTI encourages and supports international mobility in any forms of academic activities. Recently the number of international students in UNDIP and UMS is increasing and the international office should improve its service for the international students. Besides the session with the three keynote speakers, there was also a session with students who have finished their mobility program, Jennifer from Management Department UMS-National Donghwa University Taiwan and Yuda from Mechanical Engineering postgraduate program UMS-WUXI China. They shared stories about their experience studying abroad which inspires other students.
