One hundered and ninety three new students from ten international programs attended an orientation held by BKUI on Monday, September 4, 2017 in Siti Walidah’s function room. In the orientation, Head of BKUI, Supriyono, Ph.D gave a welcoming speech, introduced the staff and secretaries of international programs and mentioned briefly about mobility program in UMS which becomes the plus point for the international program. The schedule of compulsory English language training for students of international programs was explained by Dr. Dwi Haryanti as the Head of English Language Learning and Teaching. The students also listened to talks about the importance of the English language proficiency from Dimas Anindita, a Mechanical Engineering graduate who is now pursuing a Master’s in Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta and Chlara Yunita, a Nursing Science graduate who took a student exchange in Khon Kaen University Thailand and currently is pursuing her master degree in NCKU (National Cheng Kung University). Students who have finished their mobility program were also invited to give a motivational speech and to share their experience abroad. Niken Probowati, Management double degree program in National Dong Hwa University (NDHU) Taiwan, Brilian Rexa Buana, Mechanical Engineering credit transfer program in WUXI China, and Muhammad Alfian, Civil Engineering credit transfer program in UniversitiTun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) talked enthusiastically about their arrival at the new country, adaptation process with different food and study rhythm, and rising sense of nationalism. The orientation was closed with a sharing session with students’ association from CESA (Civil Engineering Student Association) and CEA (Chemical Engineering Association).
